Help on wood burning stove

Firewood heating and wood burning equipment forum would be a better forum to post question on.
My first thought was "no way, don't try it, very bad" but not sure why? I think that when you go from large to smaller dia. pipe, the risk of a leak is greatly inceased in the area of larger pipe before the reduction.
Carbon Monoxide detector is recommended whenever wood is being burnt indoors.
