Just started using my new small battery powered 10" chainsaw with a 9 ' pole attachment this past month. It cuts very well and I feel comfortable using it. I would now like to buy a proper rope to hold back a few young small trees (with about 5" diameter trunks and 15'-20' tall) that are growing on my somewhat steep riverbank towards the shallow river where I live, so when I cut each of them down they will fall uphill and not downhill into the river. I would like to cut each one down separately at its base and leave the roots, of course, and tie one end of the rope to the trunk of a larger nearby tree. Any suggestions? These little trees will eventually grow huge and block my view of the river. I already have many big ones (oaks mostly) that have just been professionally pruned to open the view and that stablize the bank.
