Homelite Chainsaws

Hey guys, my neighbour has me working on his Homelite XL he was given free, the saw sat a long time and was flooded at one point, so it needed cleaning real bad. Question is the carb is shot, I can't get the throttle to even budge, even after soaking in cleaner, so now the shaft is bent. It's a Walbro HDC-65, I can't seem to find one on ebay, so I was wondering what other models carbs would work??? The seems to be from 1984. Also needs all fuel and ol lines replaced, what size are those?? Thanks

The best I could recommend would be to pick up a donor saw, will probably be cheaper than buying the carb. Take you fuel and oil line into a small engine shop and have them cut you a new one.

That's what I would be looking for as well. The price of a carb could out weigh the value of the saw.

Those are great little saws. I've seen a few little things than make a big difference on them though. Inside the oil tank there should be a sintered bronze piece in the line that comes from the case, it's used to regulate oil flow. It can smoke, or oil like mad without it. the fuel tank should have a duck bill valve in a small hole near the cap, messy without that. There are many models of those and I'm not sure they are all the same, but the older one with a metal case I've seen all were setup like this. AS member Chainsawlady has the parts.

Now that ghey gas cap, that would have never made it in my design studio...but they is what they is, and that ain't bad.

About the fifth time I've typed ain't this afternoon. Now six.

I don't know what you are talking about there. The saw is massive. Probably 3 inches wider than my 3120xp. And just as long. It weighs about the same though, I think.

I don't have one of these but are they much bigger than a 360 prow I have 2 of them and they are nice little saws

wen I say little saw I'm talking about size and weight not power - I play with either my c52-c6 or 600d every week to keep them happy so these are little compared to those

A 360 is only half this size.

360+360=720.

And I always that was for cutting all those soft wood pecker poles ya got out there in the west.

Tiny bar or not I still feel the same about boxing it up and shipping it over here. Something about a friend in need

So you're getting Ron's "Christmas" XL904 eh? Good for you. Hope you can figure out what's ailing it. That takes the XL pattern bars. Oregon D096/D196. Same as an XL12/SXL-AO, XL400/500, XL700/800/900-series, or XL450/550/650/750 (like the one pictured above).

Those bars are still in production. Check Baileys and other places for them. Sometimes they're on 'clearance'. You can run 3/8" or .404 on that saw. 3/8" would be cheaper. A 20" bar would take 70DL of 3/8". 24" takes 81DL. 28" takes 93DL...

A pic or two will say a thousand words. Is your clutch spinning off?

I have no way of taking a picture camera is packed up someplace but everything is fine on the saw - clutch - spring everything all I did was put the new clutch sprocket on it and now it spins off I'm just glad the chain wasn't on it that mite cause a small problem
