XL12 is manual oiling only 54cc. SXLAO is automatic and manual oiling, 57cc.

Well I can live with that. Actually don't even know if my auto oiler even works.
Thanks for the Information.

XL-12 is 54cc vs 58 cc for your super. Manual only oiler. I've never run one I would guess the Super XL might have a fair bit more power due to the different reed setup but you would have to ask one of the hundreds on here that have both. If your auto oiler isn't working, The are easy to get going.

The Super XLAO's are good saws.

I bought my SXL in either 83 or 84 for $75.00 and it always worked hard. This yr I had some issues and had to rebuild the carb, my fault though. I was sick last yr and didn't drain the gas when I was done so this yr it was running bad till it stopped.
I nearly caved in and bought a new saw only last week, glad I didn't and used some money for the XL-12.

OK added a little sister and big sister to my small collection of saws today. An XL-12 for $30.00, definitely been sitting because around the gas tank fill it was pretty pitted. I hit it with a brass tooth brush, emptied out some green looking stuff, blew out the mess under the air filter, refueled and three pulls and she started up. Ran rough for a few minutes and went and cut some wood. So far it purrs very well.
Sure am glad I passed on the new Stihl last week.
Now for a new gas filter, plug and air filter.

Just picked up the XL 12 above and am looking for a parts breakdown but all the UT numbers I search have 5 numbers this one has 6? UT 104451.
Any help thanks.

For Homelites that have a 6 digit UT number, ( model number) ignore the sixth digit and only use the first five. The sixth digit indicates what the saw was originally sold with. ( 16in bar, 20in bar ect...) Homelite only used 6 digit UT numbers for of couple of years, then went back to five digit UT numbers. Other years, the sixth digit was a letter.

None. You have a older saw. Homelite added letters later every time they changed something ( i.e. Like going from points to electronic ignition )
Call me strange but every tool I own I get as much info as possible and put it in a 3" binder and put it in my desk. Just me I guess but it saves plenty of time and headaches when i need something.
Thank you again for your knowledge of Homelite.
