Found a 1957 Homelite EX-6 in my grandad's old shop.

It pulls over and has spark, but does not start, and as you can see the recoil is rough. Compression feels week, and when i went to run a test on it I found the tester started peeling threads on the head.

Anyone no a place for parts? I have checked Chainsawr and he doesn's seem to have anything I need. Wouldn't mind a carb kit and such.

I have found this carb kit, Acresinternet says it is the repair kit, although the HL 104a isn't listed in the ebay ad. ANy thoughts?

Before I go digging does anyone know much about these recoils? Not some sort of vietnam boobytrap i wont be able to reassemble?

Thanks in advance guys,

Jordan

I'm not familiar with that model but it looks similar to the old Homelite Zip I used to have. The compression probably won't be terribly high like a new saw but will run on the lower compression. Homelite made some funny looking starters back then and that one may be complete except it looks like the spring needs rewound, a tiresome job with any saw. I picked up a carb kit at my local small engine shop, just get the number off the carb to be sure.
