How to trigger self-releasing blocks/pulleys?

What if you need to release before the choker sliders get to it?
Can anyone recommend some sort of screw-on lug that can be positioned anywhere on and wont trash, the cable please?

Some of those older cam operated styles you would attach a string to and pull on it from the landing to realease the block
