Hi all,
I recently purchased a new home, and a huge hemlock (1-1/2 - 2 stories high, 10'+ wide, trunk is 1' in dia.) was planted way to close to the corner of the house.
The tree has grown all the way up against the house, and has almost completely blocked the guest bedroom window.
I'd say it has never been pruned.
To get it down to the correct size, the tree will pretty much have to be reduced down to half its size, which will most definately cut all the green off of it.
I am wondering if this is even worth it, if the tree will survive such an massive prune, or if I should just bring it down completely.
Thanks,
