Hey guys, New to the site and i have a few Q's for you. I own a Huskee 357XP, great saw its cut about 40 cord or more hardwood since i owned it, from new. Recently within the last few weeks i have replaced the piston twice. The cylinder has not been too scored but, i have been cleaning it with Emmery cloth and honing it each time just to clean the aluminum off the cylinder walls. My ring gap is still under 1mm. My question is what is making the saw burn up pistons and rings? Each time it has about 120-150 psi for compression. I cant seem to find any air leaks. I eliminated my decompression valve, and plugged the cylinder hole it used to go to. The scoring of the piston is always on the exhaust side of the piston.
I run 93 octane with a mix ratio of 32:1. It has a 18" 3/8 chisel chain on it. The exhaust is slightly modded.
Any help would be appreciated, I have got firewood to cut.
If i cant solve this i think I'm going to get a new 357xp or the next step up.
Thanks guys.
Andy.
