OK time for some port work! My stock 385 runs good but its nothing like that 390.
That looks like a saw that was in my basement.

Exactly-- I believe that's the angle that the first notch provides. Then I increased the sharpening angle from 30 to 32 degrees. Philbert's post recommended that. The instructions that came with the grinder say nothing about any of this. Regardless, this seems to be the closest thing I've seen to a file sharpening. It does make a difference (even on Stihl's).how much? 10 deg each way?
Are those bushes still in the same place ?It looks like somethinsk I thought was in the bushes looking in at me when I was small....
Yup right by the driveway where you used to work on your car.....why do you ask?Are those bushes still in the same place ?
So what would you suggest for a carb?A stock 385 is better ported than a stock 390. You can gain a lot by opening the 385 up at both ends (larger carb and muffler mod).
372 carbSo what would you suggest for a carb?
Nice saws Brad!! Sound and run good!
I just picked up this little Husq the other day...

Thanks again. The saw I had in my basement should be to your place tomorrow my friend.

372 carb
Does the XT carb help at all on the 390 in your experience?. I'm reluctant to try it since the 390 runs darn good with the stock carb.I do not find the stock carb to be an issue at all, although the 372 XTorq carb does make a nice upgrade. It's replacement is not required for a very strong running saw.
Brad I wish I could take you out to the woods to show you how a work saw cuts.
