I was cutting with a neighbor yesterday. He has a 266xp in what appears to be in good shape. My 455 was cutting circles around his saw. I new something had to be wrong so I asked him if I could run it. I noticed that the saw did not seem to rev high enough. It would cut but it would just cut slow.

The saw recently had the carb cleaned and "tuned". Do you guys think that a carb adjust could address this problem and, if so, is there a standard procedure to tune a carb?

Thanks in advance.

The carb setting on mine is perfect at 3/4 out on both screws. It 4 strokes out of the cut and cleans up when you start cutting. If I went 1 turn out on both it will hardly run. My 266 will make almost twice as fast cuts as our 55 .

Added on Edit: Thanks, Troll. I was always wondering what the stock settings were.
