I have my choice of a very nice looking 285CD with a 2100 cylinder and fuel tank or a very nice looking sxl 925. Both are from very creditable sellers. Both are coming with new 20" bars and chains. I can get the 285CD for $200 or the sxl 925 for $250. I have this posted in the used equipment area, but seems to be more people over here. What wouls be considered the better deal? I have held both saws, ran both saws, and if I had $450 I would own both saws.

Depends...bet that Husky is the winner based on raw performance by a big
margin. I have to wonder if parts are any more available for the Husqvarna of
that age than the old Homey.

Since neither are new, are you looking for cheap big HP or beginning to
think Hobby? Cheap Big Power go Husky. Thinking of collecting Swedish
Technology..Husky again.

Looking for nice power in a slightly dated design made in America AND I suspect without knowing for certain...a bit lighter....Homelite. (I have never used a 285CD but I BET there are a few folks in
here who have plenty of experience with both)

In the same situation, (without true experience on the husky but looking to
take a gamble on something), I would buy the husky if I needed another
milling or saw to pull a MUCH bigger than 20inch bar. I would get the Homelite
for evrything else...but I LIKE homelites and don't care as much about the
fact it would be a generation older design and wouldn't make anywhere
near the power of a 100CC Husky. (Around 85cc if it had a stock barrel)
