Husky 50(44mm), 51(45mm), 55(46mm) and there was a 45mm closed port 55 also
Jonsered 490
Partner 5100
Poulan 325 (I think it was the 325)

All can be interchanged.

Yes, with the exception of the early 50's. They had a different bolt pattern and case.

Bolt pattern was the same, I swapped a 45mm top end onto a earlier 50. Only difference is the size of the opening in the top of the case and the "lips" on the cylinder.
Yes but no all of them. Have a 50 here that a 51 or 55 cylinder will no bolt to. Narrow bolt pattern on the intake side.
Doesn't matter in this case, all 51's have the same mount.

There was also a 50 with 45 mm open port cylinder. Same grey top and thumb choke that pushed in on the air cleaner as my 44 mm 50.

I think the 51 may have been the 45 mm open port with the addition of a more normal pull out type choke/throttle lock, perhaps Troll can help me out here?

You are correct, in 1990 there was a 50 special that had a 45mm bore. In 1991 they changed the top cover/choke and renamed it the 51.

Johnny I think your right, I have a a 1983 Husky 50 Rancher. I know for a fact that when you dremmel off a bit of the "lips" a 51 Cylinder bolts right on. But I could be wrong.

That is all I had to do on the 1985 model I did a 51 upgrade to also, but that was the oldest one I have ever messed with.

That is what the "official" info fit with, but then there are evidence on here that it isn't always that way.....:msp_confused:

I guess Partner 5100 is a misprint for the 5000, and the I think you safely can add the P500, 5500, 540 and 543 to the list + the Jonsered 590.

I took a stab in the dark because I knew it was either the 5000 or 5100. That is about my normal luck, even with a 50/50 shot I was still wrong. I did not know about the other Partners though I did know about the Jonsered 590 but forgot to list it.

Good thread here.

mweba: yup, model 50 here has an orange cover. will only accept the model 50 cylinder. Piston is 45 mm, flat top. Case tag: Model 50, sn: 0204954.
Baileys piston part number PC1664 B.

SawTroll has an old post about the Model 50 transition made in 1990 with
the serial number cutoff. Can't find it for the life of me this morning....

Was searching for the same thread myself. New search function evades me!

I have two 50's here, one "grey top" and one orange. Grey top has the funny case in my situation. But thats not to say the plastic has not been changed.
