Husky T435 H/L carb limiters

Picked up this new saw from Husky for smaller pruning jobs. I have an ms200t for the bigger stuff. Saw ran ok for the first day, a little light on power. Second day saw starts to bog down in the cut 6 inch maple. Unable to adjjust carb due to red caps covering mixture screws. Screws are recessed in carb casting. Normally I take a heated cherry red razor blade and cut off the wings on the limiters. Not possible in this case. has anyone removed this type of limiting cap? A blunted sheet metal screw driven down the center?
Whats underneath? Slot or spline? Dealer is far away and he sucks. Help appretiated before I dig into a 3 day old saw.
