Husqvarna 246

So I got gifted a husqvarna 246, needs a piston an cylinder kit as well as a carb. Anyone able to make some suggestions on where to look for an aftermarket top end kit and carb ? Preferably someplace that isn't gonna rape me in shipping costs to Canada lol

The carb is actually missing or just needs to be cleaned or rebuilt?

Carb is there but needs full rebuild. Saws been sitting for over 5years. Has 30psi compression. Figure new rings piston cylinder. And since carb needs rebuild be just as cost effective to buy a new one if available

I can't say that I've seen reasonably priced OE carbs but haven't looked in a while. I'd grab a carb kit versus chancing a cheap AM carb.

Those HDA 98 carbs aint cheap, best is to gamble for a kit.
That is not the first step for you.

Both cylinder and piston is NLA, and there isnt any quality or far as I know any AM 246 jug out there.
Meteor has started to produced 246 pistons.
Before you think so much about it I would simply popped the jug to see if there is hope.

IIRC HDA 144 will work as an alternate carb if yours wont rebuild.
