Very nice saw...with both tops!! If you ever want to part with the HD hi-top kit, let me know.

I've used a 281, i ran it with a 25" Oregon powermatch and full comp chain. A real pig of a saw.

the 281 is a great saw, upgraded carb to the 181se that I have a few of
my go to saws for big timber .ergonomics and vibes are better than my
066.
strangely enough, i recently sold an 081 to a tree surgeon who did use an 066 and he said exactly the same thing, he thought the 181 was far better balanced even with a 36 inch bar.

In small wood short bars (20-24") 181/281 will run right with 288. Where the 288 shines is 36" in big wood. I have a real nice 181 only thing it needs is starter cover decal which I have just neeeeeed to remember to install it (Rountoit). 288 to build all OEM w/Hitop.

One of the best saws ever made.
I have a dolmar 116 good runner and 123 and a 133 to restore I also have a dolmar 306 cut off saw ;o) dolmar were as good as stihl and husky in their day in my honest opinion and I think they are underrated by the majority who only see stihl/husky brands worth have as that's what they see most professionals using, I don't think any make saws like they used to due tio regulations, etc. just my humble opinion and I'm sure many will disagree ? I wander how many new saws will be still running in 40-50 years time ?

View attachment 628890 I have an older 281. Don't know how or if it's even possible to read the serial number to find out the year. It runs real well and is in good shape. Any fans of the 281's / 288's?
My favorite of the big husky's and my favorite falling saw.
I rebuilt this one my brother bought new in 2000
Tough saws just needed a ring.
New kit line's and a meteor
I put a dual port on it
Love that 288 rumble.20171029_120604.jpg 20170820_174022.jpg
