Husqvarna 288 questions

Got me an old 288 started it up for a few minutes today act's like it's running out of fuel, I'll rebuild the carb, has 150 psi is that about right? It's got the kolbenschmidt cylinder with no decompression. The flap on the muffler was barely open. What kind of mods do you suggest? You know I got to mess with this thing....

Anyone use after market seals? Or should I stick with husqvarna only my dealers all ways closed when I get off work.

I tank vent get plugged created a vacuum and had the staving fuel syptoms. Fairly easy to check try to draw a vac off of your tank with your mity vac, Use the fuel hose if it holds a vac, that aint good...

No replies guy's. .. I won't have to rebuild my carb I just scored a hs 228c Tillotson brand new in the box for 26 $ hell yeah.

Yeah I hear you but maybe a little mm, base gasket delete, open exhaust port and polished. Just makes it a little more mine ya know what I mean.

Usually those KS ones will push more than 150. Check for scoring and ring condition.

OK the top end is coming off, I think I will strip it down for a full rebuild just so I know everything is good. Don't know the history of this saw.

Saw has no top cover, does have a high top air filter elbow on carb I like the look of the low top.
