Very nice 359 that just received a new Meteor piston. Saw was scored due to the junk plastic intake clamp leaking so I updated the boot and put a Stihl clamp on it. Base gasket has been deleted, carb limiters removed, tan diaphragm in the carb, and a breather hole in the diaphragm cover. Compression is at 170.

Asking 350.00 plus shipping for the PHO or will trade. 288, 385, 395 or 440, 460, 660's running or not interest me right now.

I'm still learning about the Huskys so I have to ask- what is it about the 357's that they command $7-800 and the 359's typically go for 1/2 of that (or even less at times)? Especially when they are as nice as this one? They both appear to be on the same chassi platform and similar in cc size.

Perceived value is the biggest factor, but nothing significant.
The 357 has crank stuffers and as far as I know most of the 359's came with a cat muffler.
Different carbs as well on some of the models and an out decomp on some 357's which was likely to fail.
With the base gasket removed this will now beat a stock form 357.
Most also hold that the 359 cylinder is the better of the two for porting based on what I have read.
Sure someone who knows more will correct me if I'm off here, no claim to knowing it all by any means.

In my book the 359 was the better value new, and for the price of the 357's it still is.
This 359 is a prime example of that and should make someone a fine saw.

I sold my 359 about 2 years ago. Wish I wouldn't have. Worst part is guy I sold it to reminds me of this every time we cut wood together. Damn good saw!
