I am having problems with fuel leaking, how hard is it to repair the tanks?

Where’s it leaking.

I am not sure, I have not been brave enough to take it apart

Not bad to remove fuel tank from a mag crankcase saw like 61:
Handlebar - 4 screws
Remove recoil and clutch covers
Find 2 back screws that hold rubber anti-vibe buffers to crankcase. Remove.
Pull fuel line off carb.
Tank/Handle will drop down. Make sure throttle rod is out of the way.
There are 2 front screws in AV buffers you can remove if you want tank all the way off.
Then look at fuel line & grommet, tank vent or crack in tank for leak.

probably cracked fuel line... or possible bad vent. super easy to disassemble on those saws.
