My older bars seem to collect way too much crap after short periods of time. Is there a way to prevent this? is this some sign of wear I need to have the bar tuned via filing. It seems like when I have a few tanks through I need to take the chain off and clean the bar kerf or else I stop getting enough oil. I do clean the saws thouroughly after use, which includes the bar. any thoughts?

All normal... clean the bar groove regularly. keep you chain SHARP. Your chain should throw chips, and not dust... dust will get into every nook and cranny of a saw... not good.

Low Pressure compressed air is your friend too when cleaning a saw.
