100% Hackberry. We have tons of them where I live.

Basically a 'trash' tree around here. Just finished cutting one up (blow down from storm).

Much appreciated everyone! I have heard of them but never dealt with one, and was just curious what it was and any online information I could find didn't really define it. Thank you!

Just saw this, a little late, but YES, hackberry.
Had 30 of them cut out of my fencerow last week - just loaded the last of them on my brush pile this morning.
Nasty tree, if you ask me.
Yours is a monster, Flintknapper! Most of mine were 8" to 12" diameter. So glad I got rid of them.

Not by a long-shot....'big' hackberry trees here will be 48" + in diameter, same thing for Water Oaks. I have a Water Oak in my yard that is nearly 18' around (about 6' across).

Had no idea they got that big - now I'm positive I made the right decision to cut them down now!
Btw, I got a great price on it, too - 30 trees (like I said, not too big) for $300. And, my view on that side of the yard went from about 150' to infinity! :D

I took care of most of the brush and he's carting off the bigger pieces of wood for his fire pit.
I got all the trees I could with my sawsall the past couple of years and he's going to get the rest. I told him I have plenty more to cut down, if he's up to it. :)
He's just a guy with a chain saw my lawn mower mechanic recommended... and a hard worker.
Although, for two trees near the house and one by the barn, I'm going to have to bite the bullet and hire a pro with a bucket truck and pay out the big bucks.
