Actually it still ran fine but seeing the damage to the piston I decided to pull the jug. This started a few years back do to a bad strato valve.

Chunk of cylinder lining gone.

Scored piston.

I went ahead and ordered a new piston and cylinder for a 543 xp because they use the same style cylinder but the xp cylinder is half the price of a gz400 cylinder. 2 week wait for parts because of husqvarna.

What do you mean Strato valve?
:nofunny:
Carb air inlet shutter butterfly?

I've only ever seen one cylinder that has a valve on the strato, and it was a Stihl TS800 cutoff saw.

I'm skeptical that's gonna bolt on, but it will be interesting see. I believe they have an exhaust port that has a jog to the side, as well as a bore offset fem the crank centerline.

Aw Hell, it don't look all that bad.

Just do what Husky saw owners do. Rotate the piston 180 degrees and force her back into the jug. ;)

Thought about that.

Redmaxs used a rotating cylinder for the strato system instead of butterflies and had a little gasket that occasionally fails.

Chris the only difference is the offset exhaust and no bore offset. I almost did this when I had my my 543 apart but talked myself out of it.

Still waiting on parts from husqvarna. They forgot to ship the base gasket but sent the box to the store I ordered through. Hopefully parts will be sent out tomorrow. My 365 carb and two mufflers are going to get here by Friday from china and I ordered them Sunday on fleabay.

The parts are finally on their way to me and got the new carburetor I ordered for the chusky along with two mufflers.

Cad is hitting me hard this week, i almost picked up another gz4500, bidding on a gz4000, poulan 3750, plus a ported g621 and a very nice g5000 have popped up on ebay.

I like the G5000, but I keep thinking about the 62cc clones of it. I wonder what they weigh?

Well the parts finally shipped today (ups misplaced them ) now they have an issue with my adress. Anyhow I ordered another p&c on ebay from the loggerchain shop and a new toy since I lost out on a craftsman/redmax gz4000.

56ccs of the zenoah clone flavor. It came with a decent Oregon chain, bar cover, and a good carry bag.

Good choice on your clone. The 62 cc i'v work on has a G 450 type cylinder[48 mm diameter] with small transfers and a slug piston[like a H 55 but 48 mm and two rings]. After starting it i tore it down and put a 45 mm cylinder with windowed piston[full circle skirt and windows like the Partner 5000]. It allmost run with a run down Stihl ms 660 [not myne] in 15 inches oak. The carb is similar with yours. I gave the saw to a friend after that so i'v had little trigger time on it. I just remembered : the 58 cc version has a 45,2 mm cylinder so yours has a 45 mm cylinder with 34 mm stroke at 56 cc. In my opinion this and the 58 cc are the best choice on this chassis. Especially with this carb[Hy idle on choke linkage and bigger venturi].

Pulled the muffler off just for fun. 2 ring piston and nice exhaust port casting.

GZ400 bore just a touch smaller than the 543.

If you have a gz400, 4000, 4500 or a clone and want a 543xp the only gain is a rim sprocket, a higher flow muffler, and more tank capacity. I say that having had a 543, gz400, and 4500.

I was disappointed with what I saw of the 543 compared to the GZ400/4000. The bulkier case just adds weight. I wish they had added AT to the GZ400.

They run really once broke in and autotune could have made them stand out a little against the 545. Honestly it doesn't stand out much against the older redmax saws and that little difference in power is do to a much better flowing muffler. The price of the 543 is somewhere over just over the 500 mark now with ebay listings at 460-475 with out shipping added just not enough saw for that price.

The 543 has a bigger crank and clutch better for professional use. The clutch is similar with the one on the G 5000, the crank also . Here you can find a China rim sprocket for the 3800 clones. I saw that on a online shop ,i may have to buy one to see. I put a 0.325 star sprocket [Ryobi 44 cc-Redmax gz 4500] on a 37 cc engine and did't like it.
