I hope some one can help me was the stihl 044 ever made with a screw type oil cap and a flip gas cap. The seller said the saw is near mint but it looks like the fuel tank was replaced. Maybe the tank was leaky when he recived the saw i was just curious about this and thought some one could shed some light on the subject

Looks like he forgot to mention the rear handle was replaced at some point. Shouldn't have a flippy cap.

I put a 440 tank (flippy) on an 044 a couple weeks ago. . . Long story short, the saw was probably made out'a parts. That saw has a new(er) tank; I guess that doesn't have to be a bad thing, unless you don't like flippy-caps.

I like the screw-caps as well. . . But the guy smashed his tank, and the 440 tank was easy get'n on evilBay. He has a working saw now, so he's plenty tickled.

Those that guessed 3700 were correct. Got it home and found it's a 358.356090, which is a Poulan 3700 20". New fuel lines and carb kit, and this thing should do some cuttin.

A: When I recieved the saw-The gas tank vent was missing the upper portion. The vent assembly is no longer availabe from Stihl, I had to change over to the newer tank to fix the leak. Thanks for asking, chris
