ignition module for my husky

Will a non-limited ignition module increase performance in my 394xp? I was also told that if I took the spark arrester off the muffler it would open 'er up a bit, is this true? Just wondering how I could get more ooph out of my saw without spending a lot. Thanks

A non limited coil is not going to increase your power. All a limited coils does is limit the RPMs at wide open throttle when you are not cutting wood, keeps you from over revving the saw when it is under no load. Adding a extra port to the muffler may help out but I suggest keeping the spark screens in place for safety reasons, in fact I would make sure the added port has one as well. Short of porting the cylinder, anything you do is only going to give it slight power bumps.
