I thought Indiana was all corn?

We cut 'em down in 40+ foot swaths every November.

No "real trees" here, nothing to see, move along.

Fly over state??

Yep, lots-o-corn and beans.
We also have plenty of beautiful river bottoms that'll keep ya' busy catching some of the most aggressive small mouth bass in the world.
Rollin' hill country with thickets so dense ya' gotta' crawl thru 'em when yer huntin' some of the best deer huntin' in the country.
We also have the rite to conceal carry in defense of what's ours.
Property taxes aint too bad and housing costs are reasonable.
4 distinct seasons to enjoy and plentiful hard woods to process for yer' wood stove.
Friendly-hospitable folks who make it worth living here

:monkey:??FLY OVER STATE?? You, sir, are correct!

DON'T MOVE HERE!! YOU WOULDN'T LIKE IT!!:D

Oh yeah, I'd be game for a GTG..

Indiana GTG

Are there any gtg's in Indiana?

I'm located in Mooresville and have been wanting to have a gtg, but getting enough wood has been my problem. In talking with Terry Landrum and several local loggers it would cost me around 1000.00 just to get the wood here, if i was to buy it. I'm going to check with the local mill and see if they have any logs they are getting rid of. A gtg at my place would be a definate if i can get the wood and not be out alot of money. If anyone close knows where i can get some wood let me know and lets have a gtg.

try local tree company's to also look on craigslist ppl post free wood on their all

Yup,

next time you see an orange tree service truck stop and ask.

With all the borer killed Ash around if you are close to the worksite they may dump it for free.

I have a perfect place for a GTG,

sadly in this litigious society, I really don't want to give it to someone else.

Too many lawyers, not enough common sense!

Indiana GTG would be nice.

Had a customer in yesterday that said he was going to stop his wood source because he had piles everywhere. I asked what he meant ?

One of the local tree company's loads logs on 2 wagons they own and call him. He tows the wagons home and unloads the logs and takes them back to where they are cutting and they are both happy.
They have people wanting the wood but need the wagons back the next day and not everyone will bring them back right away.
Wood is free.

It deff needs to happen. I live in Martinsville and would love it. And there is plenty of wood around in Indiana The farther south you go. I have a mac 125 and would love to put a woopin on someone else's saw. I think plenty would attend If a gtg were to happen.

I would drive 300 miles to avoid the socialist state of Illinois and I grew up there. Chicago is the tail that wags the dog.

Didn't you hear? We pushed chitown off into the lake towards Wi..... they can keep the big old POS.......... Relax girls..... don't get your knickers in a bunch.

Speaking of sassafras tea.

been a while since I have made any. I have been making maple syrup and hickory syrup.. Might try to make a batch of sassafras syrup too.
GTGs are a lot of fun. I have been fortunate to meet several folks through these gatherings. Some have became great friends.
