Insect or disease on my Spruce tree?

Drought stressed conifers can experience sudden needle drop. This is a phenomenon where the tree will loose 2 to 4 years worth of unproductive needles in one season. Is it possible your spruce went through a dry period in the past 2 years?

Yes, we did have a rather dry spell in August. It was over a month with no significant rain.

Update: All of those needles that were yellow turned brown and fell off. Interior of the tree is now mostly bare.

Had a fellow tell me the problem comes from government seeding the clouds with Aluminum Sulfate.LOL
