Is the ms250 still in production?

I was told it was discontinued a couple of years ago. But there's still plenty of them in just about every stihl dealership I go to.

It may be made for foreign markets (I'm uncertain) but is no longer produced for the US market. Still some NOS in off the beaten path shops.

We have 4 or 5 of them on the shelf and it's not exactly off the beaten path. It actually hasn't been that long since we got new stock in. The MSRP was dropped back down to $299.

Is it easier to melt the area around the clutch on one vs the other?

The only time I've seen them melt down is when the brake is engaged with the saw running high idle. But it's pretty much the same case design. Either one would melt down in a hurry with the brake on.

If you have to worry about melting the saw maybe you need a metal cased pro saw..
