Depends on what you are cutting.
My 801 (very similar to the 80) wears a 24" with full comp, full chisel for cutting hardwood, and works great.

I have run a 30" bar on my 801 with no problems in hardwood. Just don't push it and you can do just about anything with that saw. I think 24" would be good for full time apparel.
