Hello everyone ..
I'm a fairly new here and have a question about a Jonsereds 49sp I'm currently looking at purchasing this saw .
The piston is scored but cosmetically the rest of the saw looks good .
Would this be an easy fix with just a new piston ring or would it be as extensive as a whole cylinder and piston ? I'm thinking maybe it might not really be a question that can be answered till it's actually torn apart and physically looked at . Here is a pic of it ...
Thanks very much ...Ernie

There will without doubt be aluminum smear transfer on the cylinder wall, it would also be likely to clean up the cylinder, remove the aluminum transfer. If the cylinder cleans up nicely then a new piston and rings would fix that part of the problem When there is damage such as this there could be underlying problems that would also need to addressed, air leaks and fuel delivery problems could also be included.
