Wondering what you have / like /no like /recommend.
I have a slew of knotty books, but the iPad thing is new to me.
I did get Max Soderstrom's "knots guide", but it is fairly mediocre, IMO.
"Animated Knots by Grog" looks to maybe be the best of the bunch, and at $5.00 I hope it is. Haven't sprung for it yet, but my resistance is weakening.
 
These two are great and the cheapest out there:

3D Knots

That's their names. Their lists are thorough, and they show the knot being tied without hands in the way. You can slow down the knot being tied, speed it it, put it on auto replay, pause it, reverse the play etc. On the 3D Knots one when you pause the knot you can turn in in any direction to view it from other sides. Also the 3D Knots app gives histories of knots and other vital info about how easy they are to untie after being loaded, and what they are best/worst for in general.
