My buddy has a two door front feeder. with a blower. It has an 8 inch pipe. we had it hooked up temporary with a reducer and six inch pipe. about 4 feet of pipe and 2 90s.Well two weeks ago we go the ceramic laid where it goes.,So we set it up with eight inch up to the 7 inch reducer going into the triple wall to the lined masinry flue. We were working on the house today and we could not get it over 71 degrees.. we got talking and realized ever since we changed the flue to eight inch the stove has not been running us out of house.
Could the 8 inche be letting so much more heat escape up the pipe?
the stove has a slider type top damper and two knobs on the doors for air control.. The eight inch pipe looks so much better. So we have came to two different options.. go back to six. or put a damper in the pipe.

Think about it years back all stoves were basically throttled by the damper instead of fancy knobs and sliders.

I suggested an electri heatalator type device that goes in the pipe to reclaim heat., But he is a tightwad..
So tomorrow we are going to try the damper. if that does not do it.. we will revert back to the six inch pipe.
NOTE nothing has changed about the stove. burning basically from the same woodpile. Just the pipe.
If anyone has any ideas please feel free to voice em here.
