I was just shown a 7 story pine tree that is still young and narrow. There is a main trunk, and at it's base grows a narrower trunk nearly as high. The sides of these trunks are growing into each other as they develop. They are both as straight as telephone poles.
It's my understanding that the growth should be lopped off. I've also heard contradicting stories about how is is not necessary.
Personally I think it's a structural risk for the future, but cutting the thing is not going to look as sweet.
What do you think?
