Some oak, some Gum, but the Gum has a smell like the underside of a house, still hard, no bugs, just that smell, and only till its split and stacked, is that the start of rot? or just an age smell? I burnt some like that last winter and didn't have any issues with it. I really want top still be good since all I have is an 8 lb maul and a hand pump Greyhound splitter

If its solid its good, might be mildew or some fungus, bust it and get it stacked up.

That's exactly what I am doing :) and yes it is all still solid, but I wanted to ask the experts, this is only my third year running this heater, for the past 20 I have had oil :(, and the only reason i am even able to use wood is that I was born, raised, and bred with wood for heat, so its basically in my blood like every other bit of country know how and lifestyle, in a city or not.
