is there one type of tree more likely to be struck by lightning than another? ( besides the tallest ) my friends say black locusts here in the east.
 
Here are the top ten(Cripe, R.E. 1978):
Maple Sycamore
Ash Poplar
Tulip tree Oak
Pine Hemlock
Spruce Elm

BTW - I just saw two palms struck last week that were at least thirty feet shorter than the surrounding trees.
Go figure.
