Makita version of Dolmar 7900

Does Makita make a saw that is same size as the dolmar 7900? The largest makita I have saw is the 6400.

You can use the big bore kit or a oem 7900 cylinder and piston. Alot of the members on arborist site prefer the oem over the big bore kit. Mainly cause of the oem quality.

Bingo, I would say the OEM mahle cylinder quality outweighs the extra 5cc from a BB aftermarket kit.

My dealer said the new version of the 7900 should be out in January. Should be very interesting to see the changes they make.

I bought my DCS-7901 from a hardware store in UK last summer. They still advertise them on Ebay/UK, but the European price might not impress an US customer... A used 6400/6401 and an upgrade p&c from Baileys is probably the way to go.

I heard that too and Bailey's is selling a Makita 6401 with a OEM 79cc top end right now for I think 599$, or 699$
I don't remember off hand.

Maybe it's a matter of opinion, but since Makita does own the company that makes the saws they put their name on I'll say either way you put it is equally correct...

Don't bet on getting a 7900 top end for it unless they have some stashed for the 6401 upgrade saws. I ordered 2 7900 P&C's last week they cancelled my order. This was Dec.3 freeship and on sale for $169.95. Doesn't matter if they were a $ if they don't have them. Real disappointed to say the least. The OEM 7900 comes very highly recommended over the BBK. Got 2 saws to upgrade New Makita 6400 and a New Solo 665. The 7900 P&C will work on the Solo makes it a 681 just use the 1.5mm cyl. gasket

I was told no change in the saw.
