I have these nasty little buggers in a sugar maple...spreading to another.
I've noticed leaves dropping next door as well...

The tree doesn't seem to suffer too much after the little bastids are done feeding...but it's a hassle.

I've read various courses of action...from boom truck spraying to ground applied granular product.

Help a brother out....

Thanks.

Classic identification of this pest appears to be the green leaf drop at this time of year with a portion of the petiole attached. Tip of petiole should be black.

Extention service pdfs I have read all state that this is an insect which causes "insiginificant" damage to the tree, correct timing is very difficult to achieve for insecticides and therefore is not recommended.
