? maple type ID

I went out today to cut some maple logs, but they were too big and tough to noodle with my saw.

I brought this piece home.....the rest is still there.....any idea what type of maple it is ?

no leafs, tree was cut down month ago.....thanks guys.....I have enough soft maple here.....guess ill pass.
