I live on the Oklahoma/Arkansas border on I-40 and have always wondered is there a market for all the cedar that grows 'wild' everywhere? I have access to almost 200 acres of which the cedars are like weeds and would like to have a contact that would harvest them. I know they use shavings for horse bedding but was curious to know if there is a real market for the bigger trees.

The Eastern Red Cedar in this part of Oklahoma doesn't really reach commercial sawtimber size.

It is usually cut for post and poles.

Here is a link to the OK Forestry website. http://www.forestry.ok.gov/eastern-redcedar

On the page linked, there are several other links.

Hope this helps.
