I muffler modded mine also. I dialed it in to sound as best I could and then took it over to the local Home depot and borrowed their tach. I dialed it in to 2800 on the low idle and 13000 WOT. The plug is not wet and is a nice tan color. It starts on the 2nd pull when cold. A much better running saw than before.
The plug was replaced with new bosch about 2 gallons ago. Plug indicates a tad bit rich. Did lean it out a tad yesterday for an additional increase of 400 rpm. Can that engine be run at 13,800 rpm ?
