The very early 101's made in 67 won't perform quite like the others. Any of the others will
make a good kart saw. The early 101 has a bridge in the exhaust port. The others are a full
open port.
Weren't kart motors a generic term for MAC with a removable head..80cc's and up?

I like them all. But kinda really like the 1-41.. Do believe it would fit right in the stable.. That is if the other guys will accept it's presence.. $?

Got a funny problem with my PM800 - it starts and runs fine (great in fact), but when i go to shut it off, it doesn't stop, unless you sit it on the ground. If it is sitting on the ground, the switch works perfectly, if you are holding it in the air, it doesn't. When holding it in the air, if the switch is off, the cylinder shield over the spark plug comes live - i shocked myself on it while trying to work out what was wrong.

This has started since I pulled it down to replace the AV mounts so i must have missed something - it was fine before. Any ideas??? I've looked it over a lot, and i can't work out what I've done wrong/left out. I did check i put the insulator under the rear AV mount, and all wires are connected.

Beetle - Kart engines had different porting, the saws with the closest porting were the 44/55 models.

Rio - there should be a ground wire from the center of the front anti-vibe mount that connects to the tank through one of the attaching screws. Without that, the switch, which is connected to the tank) is effectively insulated from the engine where the coil is grounded. You can see the ground wire sticking out of this PM8200 short block below, connect that to the tank with one of the 1/4" hex head screws that hold the tank/mount together.

Thanks guys. I stand corrected. Sometimes AD's are deceiving, cuz sometimes they say kart motor on saws like my 1-70 & 1-40, just to name a couple..

Nice 70E.
Thank you my man. Dad bought it brand new in the early 80s, it was his first departure from McCulloch when the higher revving Swedish saws started to take over. I dont run it as much anymore for lack of parts availability in the event the ignition should go out but it sits at the ready and is called upon from time to time.

Cut today at the wood lot. Had some big stuff to cut. Used the PM800 with 28" .404 bar and the PM610 with a 24" 3/8 bar. Most of it I had to make cuts both front and back with the PM800.

I've had oiling problems with my 650..as in not pumping. Tried several pumps from both 610 and 650.. Same thing.. No oil.. Other than new lines (done) any suggestions on something I might have overlooked?

I am in the same boat with my PM800. I used the manual oiler all day. I think the problem is in the manual oiler though it still will work. If you look at the circuit the suction side of the system goes threw the manual oiler to the tank. A very small leak will go a long way and feel this is where my problem is. Even when using the manual oiler it felt like it was loosing prim every time I used it. I would have to pump it a few times to get it to work.

Does PM 800 use same pump? 610, 650, are up top under air shroud. And you're right, I pump once and feels stiff, but gotta wait a moment for the pump to fill up again. So it seems

Here's my lineup for the NY GTG this weekend. Hope to meet up with some of you fellow Mac nuts there.
Not sure how I'm gonna recognize anyone lol.

Look me up when you get there. I look like the old guy in the pic. I may be wearing a different hat though. Bringing a Homelite Super EZ, Super 650, MAC SP80 and a

Poulan 5200.

There was a time that I would have been jealous that Brian beat me to it, but I truly appreciate him helping with the stuff no one else wants to cut. He just better remember to save one for my project ten series saw - which won’t be long now as Mark H. sent me a critical part yesterday. Planning to run a 33” bar with .404. I want to build this one but I am going to ask Brian to tune it. His saws crank and idle easy. My 800 he tuned has started cold on the second pull and purrs like a kitten.
