Very cool. I thought you were kidding with your thread title. Those kids are pretty sharp.

Now apply that to a portable sawmill so that one person can saw and off bear with out a big clunky remote getting in the way. The big mills have been using cutting edge technology for years with up grades every few years, the portable sawmills are running about 10 years behind on the available technology, my guess would be because of the cost. I guess that is why we all would like to keep the newest mills with all the bells and whistles.

The small portable mills for the most part are small upgrades to proven designs. This is done because the manufacturers have proven products and are competing only with similar technology at this point. Automation and user friendly features are not in demand with hobby sawyers.
