Old Logging Pics From Vancouver Island........

This is from the Woss area north of Campbell River and shows a dump truck being moved across a valley on a skyline.



And this one shows a railway trestle being constructed many years ago in the same area. This area was logged by Canfor over many years and was the last operating railway logging show left in Canada until it shut down a few years back after an unfortunate accident.



Lots of hard work using many good logs went into building trestles like this one.

Back in the days when men were men and sheep were nervous.

I discovered him in a book I found at (of all places) the Harvard Coop in 1975 or so. Bought it as a gift for friends who put me up the summer before when working in the woods near Hood River. I found my own copy some years later in a remainder bin.
