saw ran great 3 days ago.on sunday it would not run , it idled for 3 seconds and would not start after that. took the carb off and cleaned it up . its flooding badly . could the needle valve be stuck ?

new kit, still flooding!
Pressure test the fuel inlet to the carb. It should hold 7-10 psi indefinitely. If it doesn't find and fix the leak...

Did you check/set the metering lever height? Did you use an OEM kit or Chinese aftermarket?

i used the stihl kit. the hight was 50 thousands. the cost of the pressure gauge is the same as a new carb.

What model carb do you have? They used several different carb models on that saw. How do you know it is flooding?

A pressure tester can be fashioned from a cheap sports inflator with a gauge on it. You can also put a piece of hose on the fuel inlet and try blowing through it and listen for escaping air. If it fails that test remove the metering cover and diaphragm and repeat the test with some soapy water in the needle well.

You do have the metering gasket and diaphragm assembled in the correct order? The gasket goes first against the carb body... opposite from the fuel pump side.
