Hello everyone, well I got back into repairing saws again and a MS 461 & a 462 came in burned up. I just found out side by side the bearings for both are the same, When I inquired for bearings the MS462 I was told the 461 bearings and seals did not fit a MS 462 model, and I had to order 462 from Germany and I did at 110 dollars, mean while I ordered bearings for the MS461 at 20.00 bucks and wow oddly enough they are the same bearing set as the MS462 and everyone I talked did not even know since the 462 was so knew, Go figure, thought I share this. The Piston bearings are the same as well.

Anyways Merry Christmas everyone.

The IPLs that I have "appear" to show different size seals and therefore bearings for the FW side. 15 x 22 x 4 mm for the 462 & 13.5 x 20 x 4 mm for the 461. Stihl can be tricky though!

Ok I measured them here are the results on Bearings and seals, MS 461 Verse MS 462

That's a great discovery! It's definitely helpful to know that the good quality bearings for the MS 461 and MS 462 chainsaws are the same, especially considering the significant price difference you encountered
