Tool Price,,,,,,
Tools are sort of fickle when it comes to there price, short story here, but with a moral.
Just bought a belt sander, have a few Doug Fir logs that are going to be a banister and window or breezeway encasement. I went the extra distance for a Ridgid, with a variable speed, 800 - 1475 FPS,(could have easily had a $100 dollar cheaper sander) ,,, didn't think I would need the VS, but what the h311.
Turns out that sanding the knotts and bull-nosing the sides, I was blowing up belts in no time at all,,,, just thought this was going to be an expensive project! Buy a lot of belts,,,,,,wrong, throttle the sander down to the 800FPS speed and blow a belt if I hit something wrong.
Moral of the story: *Tools don't cost anything, they pay for them self, if you think for one second that the 441 would have more usability , buy all means buy it,,,,at $100 dollars more usability is the bottom line.
*Good tools, things like Wildthinggies and some Harbor Freight and such tools don't count.
