Ms660 low compression

OK, start from the beginning. What happened that caused you to tear it apart?
As far as the glaze, yes it can cause low compression. I have had 1 in the shop that did exactly that. Part of an engine rebuild with new rings. The slight roughness lets the rings conform to the cylinder. I use a small engine spring loaded hone (it is really a GLAZE BREAKER), or a ball hone. No, it will not hurt the nikasil because you only want the glaze broken, not oversizing.
