MS661C crankshaft rough to turn

I've got a 661 I'm working on. P&C got destroyed, and I may have found the reason why. I took the P&C off, and the crankshaft is rough to turn by hand and nearly impossible with the starter. It's good for about 2/3 of the rotation but 1/3 is rough and hard hard to turn through. Flywheel isn't touching the coil. Possible the crank bearings are damaged? Could explain the P&C damage if there is an air leak from that. I'll have to take it somewhere to have the crank worked on since I don't have a case splitter tool.
 
Sounds like you lost a cage(or both) and the balls stacked. Can you pull a cereal and look without splitting the cases?
