I was checking on new Husky 346XP. Dealer says they are back-ordered. In looking on-line i.e. Ebay all I am seeing are green cap machines...meaning they are CAT muffler-ed.

Is Husqvarna building any non cat 346 XP's for the USA market?

Not likely that would be going backwards!I am sure you may find one if you look around .Maybe a slightly used one.

All the 346s' I've seen around here on dealer shelves have been non-cat for the last two years.

Like I said in your other thread, most ebay sellers are using a generic photo with a green cap.

I ordered one about a year ago, came non-cat. Picked up a second from local dealer stock a couple months ago, also non-cat. Don't know how long they had it in stock. They are around but who knows if current production is cat / non-cat.

I think the first two digits on serial number indicates the year the saw was made.

I don't have any dealers in my area and want to purchase one right now. Does anyone have a dealer online that for sure has one. I see alamia.com has them for 489.00 free shipping, but I don't know if they are EPA or not. I guess I can call them tomorrow. I found a dealer in my area that has a Jonsered 2153c for 480.00....but still CAT.

Husqvarna does not allow dealers to sell online. I wouldn't trust that website unless you've ordered from them before. You will more than likely be getting a $500 Chinese ripoff.

alamia.com is a legit Husky dealer. No worries there.

I just purchased a 346xp last month and it has no cat, no green fuel cap, no "E-tec" on the sticker.

Just got a 346xp non cat on line. Had to replace a jred I just loved but couldn't get a coil for.
