I have been wanting to get into carving for years now, but never could find the time. Now is the time! Any advice for someone who knows basically nothing? Equipment, methods, starter designs?
I am currently using an echo 2511t, echo 280e, and an echo 310.
Not sure what I want to carve, but looking for good practice.

Don't buy a whole set of chisels right away. A bench chisel, complemented by a v tool, a skew, and one gouge, can go a long way. It's really all you need when starting out. Also don't be afraid to experiment with different types of wood. For me, basswood, walnut, cherry, and pine are all excellent options for carving.
