These guys are wondering why Andy left. I'm wondering if I'm going to make 1000 posts. 7 threads in 15 minutes this morning????? I guess nobody is forcing me to come here.

That is the only way it would make any sence - but who would care the answer the questions there.....

This thread obviously is a joke!

No, not really. Just trying to make some way for the easy question/responses
readily readable.
The new folks do not even try to search anything, not being mean,
but it is just my observation.

Then of course, we could have a stupid forum, for threads/posts like
mine and space's...............

This was my first poll, so be nice to me, as my feelings are tender.........

I still am bumping around the self-help/sticky/newby idea, so any input is
most welcome.......

The search function was the first option I used here when I found the site (sept 2003), long before I joined - I even remember what I first searched for ("621")....:greenchainsaw:

Another smoking forum, which many here emigrated from, had new owners
which obtained advertising/popups which were extremely annoying, impossible
for dialup members, but could be squashed with paying membership dues.

My stance at that time was, "Why in the hell would I pay to give free
repair advice????"

And still is.........

That forum is now owned by a major corp., and is pretty much dead now.

A forum's greatness is pretty much gauged by the quality of the posters
that actually help the "new meat", at least from the site owner's point of
view.

I am trying to do that here....

As well as "butchly" handling the old meat as well.

I was thinking hang out here and answer questions if you wanted, thin if you wanted you could go over to the PPF (Pay Per Forum, thats funny) and talk with old hands about restorations or GTG and the like.

I am on one forum for vintage trials. ONce a year he sends out an email, no begging, saying here is my annual appeal. If you help some paypal or send a check great, if not, the others will carry it.

I think that works way better if money is an issue. Pay to join would sink it pretty quick.

When i first posted i didnt do a search, i just asked a question. I knew the search function was there, and possibly the answer would have materialised. However, as a newbie i wanted to make contact rather than sit in the background.
The question must have been valid, although it was probably just an introduction as i dont remember being flamed.
I am a member of various shooting websites and like to participate in any forum i join. I just wonder how many members dont involve themselves and just do searches, or read post made by others rather than risk feeling dumb because of the response they might get.
Nobodies born an expert an any subject, and simple questions get asked repeatedly. Not for embuggerance sake but because people want to kick off their membership of the forum and start making posts.

I try to do that as well, but some times I get tiered of it, and ignore them for a while.

Good response.

I have made responses here lately, because they were being ignored,
and dropping off the grid, just because I felt that someone should have responded, and I am tired of it being me.

Andy/Lakeside is gone, me and THall refuse to step up............

So somebody, step up!!!!!!

I cant make heads or tails out of your poll. Im afraid to pick one and be misunderstood. I think there should be a tutorial for newbs to see how stuff works on this here forum. Im sure they are all similar but this is my first and am still learning all the tricks. I didnt know what search was even when you and other old timers were telling us to search. Speaking of search I think it needs to be rifined somehow. Also whats up with the "tag" thingy. Seems that "tagging" threads would help also. I dont mind newbs asking questions right out of the gate. If Im not in the mood or dont have a response I dont answer and move on. I was totally behind you on your last try at stickiness. (Did that come out right?) Just dont know the exact way to do it.
