I just picked this up last week. Nice clean example of the later 306SA. 90% that I see are deteriorated and missing. If ran in that condition, it will defeat the air filter and allow crap up into the carb box and carb

Yep, and 50% of the early series are leaking at that brown plastic carrier bearing seal, I never did figure out what that **** was made from.

I found a place in Las Vegas, of all places, that has the right nitrile replacement O-ring, it's a large diameter and really thin cross-section seal.

I think the late production units had the black rubber o- rings in them.

I'm not sure when they went to the o rings, might have been sooner then you think. I'm thinking it was after just a few years of production but never really looked into it.

Personally I have not had any issues with that what I call wax style ring, but then again I never pressure tested all of them, but still never had any running issues from that.

I have reused them also, just smear them with Motoseal when putting back together.

Motoseal seal is good stuff! , but I won't put one of these 306 work saws back together with a three or seven piece wax seal!

I think the hot Texas & Oklahoma summers take a toll on that seal when cutting at 90 or a 100 degrees outside.

I'm with you, I wouldn't do that with a damaged one either. I should have mentioned the ones I reused were still intact.

Don't know if anyone is interested but I'm selling the Poulan belt buckle a few pages back that I bought recently. It's over on the trading post page.
I like it and it's a cool piece, but I would rather it go to someone who will wear it and get some use out of it.

My 361 is back together with new fuel lines, filter and a rebuilt carb. Runs good so far, need to make some cuts!

The wearing it part leaves me out as I seldom wear pants to need a belt.

You guys think an old Poulan 1800 PHO for $30 is a decent deal? I want something small and light for a limbing saw. Just bought a Makita 6421 and always wanted an older Poulan.

No worries. You just saved me from getting yelled at by my wife. Just bought this Makita a week ago. Probably should give her some time to accept it. Plus the Poulan is green so she'll definitely find out I have multiple saws.

Haha I get that! Yeah she would definitely know, Poulan green is hard to mistake!
